Patine: the French brand dressing you without seasons — or an expiry date

Patine designs clothes built to last, made mostly in Europe, calling it 'prêt-à-reporter' rather than 'prêt-à-porter' — with customers who are also shareholders in the brand.

Patine calls its clothes ‘prêt-à-reporter’, not prêt-à-porter — a play on words in French that roughly translates as ‘ready to wear again’. The wordplay sets the tone for a French brand that has chosen to follow neither seasons nor collections. It sells online and from a shop in Paris, on Rue Debelleyme in the 3rd arrondissement. Its customers aren’t just buyers: they’re shareholders in the company. It’s a way of saying the brand wants to be judged over time, not on the fashion of the moment.

An idea rather than a date

What structures Patine is a choice of legal status: the company is certified as a Société à Mission (a French legal status for mission-led companies) and is B Corp certified, with a score of 118.3 points. Its customers are shareholders, a set-up that departs from the usual brand-consumer relationship. The physical shop in Paris remains the anchor point for a model designed primarily for the web. More recently, the brand has also opened a permanent space at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, a sign of a presence extending beyond its original address.

A wardrobe with no seasonal logic

At Patine, there’s no spring-summer collection and no end-of-season sale. Pieces are released as pre-orders or in drops, following the pace of product development rather than the fashion calendar. The wardrobe has recently grown to include an organic cotton poplin shirt, a wool flannel jacket developed by the Patine Studio, and a first line of socks. These are pieces designed as staples, meant to stay in a wardrobe rather than be replaced every season.

Choosing Europe and carefully selected materials

Patine states that it favours manufacturing in Europe and selects materials with a lower environmental impact. The brand also lists materials it refuses to use: virgin polyester, conventional viscose, exotic leathers, fur, silk and angora. The socks, for instance, are knitted in Portugal. According to the brand, every garment is designed to still be worn in 2037 — a long-term horizon that shapes its choices of materials and construction. Patine also states that it checks how its pieces hold up over time, to make sure they age well rather than losing their shape or their look after a few washes.

A stated commitment to transparency

Patine states that it sells without intermediaries, a choice it presents as the condition for high quality at an accessible price. The brand highlights its B Corp certification and its Société à Mission status as third-party guarantees rather than mere marketing claims. Customer shareholding, for its part, gives concrete form to this transparency: according to the brand, those who buy from Patine can also take part in its governance.

The latest releases

In September 2026, Patine launched the CEO Poppy shirt, made from organic cotton poplin, followed by the 1990 jacket, in wool flannel and the first piece developed by the Patine Studio. At the end of August the same year, the brand had introduced its first socks, knitted in Portugal. Three closely spaced releases that illustrate the brand’s rhythm: standalone launches rather than a grouped collection.

Why we like it

We like this wordplay that sums up a whole project: 'prêt-à-reporter' rather than prêt-à-porter. We also like the simple, rare idea of customers becoming shareholders in a brand that refuses seasons and openly lists the materials it won't use.

Exactly the kind of brand we’d love to come across on O!deal one day.
