The name sets the tone: thoughts of september. A Swiss lingerie and loungewear brand that has chosen to manufacture locally, in Lucerne, between Kriens and Horw, in its own workshop and in small local factories nearby. No distant offshoring, no abstract talk of sustainability: precise addresses, a studio you can pin on a map, and materials you can actually name.

A story rooted in Lucerne

thoughts of september was built around a simple conviction: lingerie can be made close to home, with materials chosen rather than dictated by the cheapest supply chain. The workshops in Kriens and Horw are not marketing façades — they are the actual manufacturing address. The brand has made TENCEL™ Lyocell and recycled-fibre lace its reference materials, and built its range around a size span rare in this sector: up to sixty different sizes depending on the style.

A range that thinks big

The thoughts of september catalogue covers lingerie and loungewear, with pieces designed for everyday wear rather than occasional use. It includes wire-free bralettes such as the Stella, in TENCEL™ Lyocell and recycled lace, available from size 34 to size 52. The Wilma briefs, in GOTS-certified organic cotton, offer a similarly wide size range, from 32 to 52. For the upper body, the Carla crop top-bralette and the Lucy shirt, both in TENCEL™ Lyocell, cover a range from XXS to 3XL, with a cropped version of the Lucy shirt for those who prefer a shorter cut. The Doro bodysuit, with its draped design, and the Renée palazzo trousers round out the loungewear offering, designed for home wear as much as for going out. On the underwear side, the Malte lace boxer, ÖKO-TEX 100 certified and made from recycled-fibre lace, comes in sizes XS to 3XL. A headband in TENCEL™ Lyocell, handmade in Lucerne, completes the accessories.

The craftsmanship behind each piece

What sets thoughts of september apart is the traceability of its manufacturing. Flagship pieces, such as the Carla crop top, the Doro bodysuit or the headband, are listed as handmade in Lucerne. The choice of TENCEL™ Lyocell as the main material is no accident: it is a fibre the brand associates with a more responsible approach than conventional synthetics. Recycled-fibre lace follows the same logic for pieces that include it, such as the Stella or the Malte boxer. The GOTS-certified organic cotton used for the Wilma briefs, and the ÖKO-TEX 100 certification of the Malte boxer, give concrete indications of where the materials come from. For the wearer, this translates into lingerie made close by, in volumes that remain artisanal rather than mass-industrial.

What the brand stands for

thoughts of september states that all people are beautiful, whatever their size, skin colour or body shape. It is this conviction that explains the size range offered across the whole collection, from XXS to 3XL depending on the style, and sometimes up to sixty different sizes.

Right now

Over the course of the year, the brand has launched several new items that illustrate its approach. The briefs released in June are made from leftover materials — a way of making use of production offcuts rather than discarding them. In August, a GUPPYFRIEND washing bag joined the range, designed to filter out microplastics released by synthetic textiles during washing. More recently, in September, the Carla camisole and the Dolly long-sleeve jumper were added to the loungewear catalogue. The brand has also announced a boudoir photoshoot called ‘Selbstliebe’, planned for early next year, featuring the brand’s lingerie alongside snacks and drinks — a way of showcasing its pieces beyond the usual catalogue format.

For readers in Switzerland

thoughts of september is not a Swiss brand in name only: its studio sits at Ziegeleiweg 1, between Kriens and Horw, in the canton of Lucerne. This is where several flagship pieces in the collection are designed and hand-sewn, in the brand’s own workshop, complemented by small local factories nearby for the rest of production.

Why we like it

We like that every piece is designed for a wide range of body shapes, without this showing on the label or affecting how the range is presented. We also like this understated way of manufacturing just down the road, in Lucerne, with materials you can name and place on a map.

Exactly the kind of brand we’d love to come across on O!deal one day.
