QWSTION Weekender: the Swiss weekend bag built on cotton

Designed in Switzerland, the QWSTION Weekender relies on certified cotton canvas and a convertible carrying system. A bag for two-day trips, laptop included, that turns into a backpack when you need your hands free.

What it is

The Weekender is the travel bag from QWSTION, a Swiss brand specialising in bags and accessories. It is designed for two days away: a few clothes, a laptop, a tablet, and no wheeled suitcase to drag along.

The Weekender comes in two shades, Organic Jet Black and Organic Washed Grey. Both are understated, built to last rather than to follow a season. The bag is aimed at people who go back and forth on business trips or short getaways, and who want a single piece of luggage that can hold both office gear and weekend essentials.

It’s neither an everyday backpack nor a holiday suitcase. It sits between the two: structured enough for a few days away, flexible enough to be worn as a backpack when your hands need to stay free.

Why it exists

QWSTION builds its range around a simple idea: replace plastic-based materials with plant-based ones, without sacrificing the sturdiness expected of a travel bag. The brand puts circularity and manufacturing transparency at the centre of its design approach.

The Weekender answers a very concrete need: luggage that can keep up with a mobile lifestyle, between business trips and personal travel, without relying on conventional synthetic materials. The brand treats this as a manufacturing argument as much as a usage one.

What matters

The bag’s dimensions, 49×33×20 cm, define its purpose from the outset: a format you carry, not one you wheel, built for a few days on business rather than a long holiday.

On the tech side, the bag takes a laptop up to a 16-inch MacBook Pro, alongside an iPad. The compartment isn’t an afterthought: it’s designed to carry a laptop and a tablet together, with no need for an extra sleeve.

The carrying system, called the 1-for-2-System® by the brand, lets you convert the bag between backpack and shoulder-bag mode. This is the feature that changes real-world use the most: the same bag becomes a backpack on a crowded station staircase, then a shoulder bag in a plane’s aisle.

The fastening combines a double zip with a twistlock system. Two levels of closure, designed to secure the contents without adding extra steps every time you open it.

The main fabric, a Cotton Canvas made from 100% GOTS-certified cotton, gets a water-based PU coating and a Ruco®-Dry Eco Plus water-repellent finish. In practice, that means a fabric that resists moisture without relying on a conventional plastic coating — a point the brand ties directly to its circularity approach.

The leather used for the trim is vegetable-tanned, waxed cowhide with a natural look. This tanning choice follows the same logic as the rest of the bag: limiting harsh chemical treatments.

Day to day

In use, the Weekender opens via its double YKK® zip, lockable with the twistlock. This detail matters for anyone travelling on public transport or leaving their bag unattended for a moment.

How you carry it depends on the moment: adjusted straps in backpack mode for walking hands-free, or a shoulder strap for a more classic carry. The straps themselves are made of rayon, a textile fibre that sets this model apart from the usual synthetic straps.

The inner lining combines EVA protective foam with a GOTS-certified cotton fabric. It cushions the contents from knocks while staying consistent with the rest of the materials chosen for the bag.

The water-repellent finish applied to the canvas copes with light rain without water soaking straight through.

What the brand says

According to QWSTION, the Weekender is designed to fit easily into the user’s life, with a style the brand describes as timeless. That’s a promise of both aesthetic and functional longevity — worth taking for what it is: brand messaging, not an independently verified fact.

The brand also presents the bag as a versatile companion, suited to a working day, a gym session or a trip away just as well.

Why it caught our eye

We noticed this bag for the consistency of its materials: GOTS-certified cotton, vegetable-tanned leather, water-based treatments — every choice is named and stood by. We also like the idea of a single bag that shifts from back to shoulder depending on the moment of the journey.

Exactly the kind of brand we’d love to come across on O!deal one day.
