What it is

The SolarFlow 800 Plus is a plug-and-play solar battery from Zendure, a brand that builds home energy storage systems designed to be installed without an electrician and without rewiring a flat or a house. It sits in the same family as Zendure’s other SolarFlow models — the 2400, the 1600 AC+, the 800 Pro 2 — but positions itself as the compact, all-in-one entry point into that range.

It is meant for people who want to store solar energy from a balcony, a terrace, or a small rooftop setup, and use it later rather than feeding it straight back to the grid. Zendure sells it in several configurations: the unit alone, without panels, or bundled with panels in different formats — two 450 W bifacial panels (1170 Wp maximum), two 500 W bifacial panels (1300 Wp maximum), or two flexible 210 W panels (420 Wp maximum). A version paired with a Smart Meter 3CT-S is also available, aimed at people who want the system to react to real household consumption rather than run on fixed schedules.

Why it exists

Zendure builds its case around a simple frustration: most people who could generate a bit of their own solar power — a balcony, a shed roof, a small garden — have no simple way to store it. Traditional home batteries require installation work, often a professional, and a system sized for a whole house rather than a single balcony or terrace.

The SolarFlow 800 Plus is presented as a way around that: a battery that connects directly to solar panels and to the home’s own electrical circuit, without asking the owner to become an electrician. The idea, as Zendure frames it, is that storing surplus solar power should be as straightforward as plugging in a lamp — and that a household should be able to start small and expand later, rather than committing to a large system from day one.

What matters

The battery capacity starts at 1.92 kWh but is expandable up to 11.52 kWh. That range matters because it separates two very different use cases: a small, self-contained buffer for a balcony setup, or a much larger reserve built up over time as a household adds capacity. Starting small and scaling later, without buying a new unit outright, is the promise behind that figure.

The dual MPPT system, rated up to 2×750 W, controls how efficiently the unit draws power from two separate strings of solar panels at once. Having two independent trackers means panels facing different directions, or receiving different amounts of shade, can each be optimised on their own rather than being limited by the weaker string — relevant for anyone whose balcony or roof doesn’t get uniform sun all day.

AC output power is rated at 800 W, which sets the ceiling for how much can be drawn from the battery at any one moment. It’s the number that decides which household appliances can realistically run from the stored energy, and which will simply be too demanding for this unit.

Zendure also states that the unit is 7% smaller and 19% lighter. It signals a design effort towards a more compact footprint.

The system’s local response time is rated at under three seconds, with adjustments as fine as 1 W for loads above 30 W. In practice, this describes how quickly the battery reacts to a sudden change in household power draw — a kettle switching on, for instance — rather than the household drawing power it hasn’t yet been given.

Day to day

Zendure describes the SolarFlow 800 Plus as designed to be installed without professional help, in keeping with its plug-and-play positioning. The system can be expanded up to six main units through what Zendure calls its HEMS (Home Energy Management System), which is presented as the layer coordinating multiple SolarFlow units together rather than running them as isolated batteries.

What the brand says

Zendure also states that the system reaches up to 96% efficiency in PV-to-battery conversion, a figure the brand says was measured in laboratory conditions rather than in everyday outdoor use.

On the electrical side, Zendure claims that its 48V architecture reduces energy losses by 25% compared with systems built around 16V, framing this as one of the technical reasons behind the unit’s efficiency claims.

Elsewhere in its own marketing copy, Zendure describes the SolarFlow 800 Plus as an economical, premium-quality solution offered at a fair price — a broad positioning statement rather than a specific, measurable claim.

Why it caught our eye

We're drawn to the idea of starting with a small solar battery and genuinely growing it later, rather than buying a fixed system from day one. Zendure's plug-and-play framing, and the attention paid to fast local response times, suggest a brand thinking about real households rather than just laboratory numbers.

Exactly the kind of brand we’d love to come across on O!deal one day.
