Panoramaknife: when a mountain range becomes a blade

A small Swiss brand from Forch engraves mountain ridgelines onto knife blades and wooden boards – mostly made in Switzerland since 2018.

A mountain ridgeline, drawn not on paper but into the steel of a knife blade – that is the founding idea behind Panoramaknife. The small company, based in Forch near Zurich, has turned this into a craft of its own: bread knives and wooden boards engraved with a mountain panorama. Since March 2018, Panoramaknife has made most of its products in Switzerland, with part of the production remaining in Premana, Italy. From this simple starting point, a collection has emerged that pairs kitchen tools with a piece of landscape.

The story of an engraving

It began with an idea the brand itself describes as its founding concept: bringing the panorama of a mountain range onto the blade of a bread knife. From this single gesture – a mountain silhouette stretching along the length of a blade – a company based in Forch was born. Since March 2018, Panoramaknife has been shifting the bulk of its production to Switzerland. Part of the manufacturing remains in Premana, Italy, a village with a long tradition of blade-making. This combination of a Swiss base and partly Italian manufacturing continues to shape how the brand works today.

The collection

At the heart of the range are knives and boards united by one feature: the engraving of a mountain panorama. A bread knife carries a mountain ridgeline along its blade, while a wooden board presents the same idea as a flat illustration. The latest addition to the collection is the “Heidi Heritage” edition, launched to mark an anniversary and comprising a bread knife along with a matching board. With this, Panoramaknife appeals to anyone looking for a kitchen tool that is about more than its practical use – an everyday object that also evokes a landscape.

The craft behind it

Since March 2018, Panoramaknife has made most of its products in Switzerland. Part of the production continues to take place in Premana, Italy. For customers, this dual location means the brand deliberately splits manufacturing between two sites rather than concentrating everything in one place.

What the brand stands for

Panoramaknife keeps returning to its original idea: depicting a mountain panorama on the blade of a bread knife. The brand itself emphasises that, since March 2018, it has moved most of its manufacturing to Switzerland, while part of the production remains in Premana, Italy. These two facts – the origin of the idea and the location of manufacturing – form the foundation of what Panoramaknife says about itself.

Panoramaknife right now

In 2026, Panoramaknife launched an anniversary edition together with the Heidiseum. It was created ahead of the two-hundredth birthday of Johanna Spyri, the author of Heidi. The edition is called “Heidi Heritage” and includes a bread knife along with a matching board. Also in 2026, the brand took part in the Ornaris trade fair and afterwards thanked visitors for their interest.

Why we like it

We like the simplicity of the idea: a mountain ridgeline drawn as a silhouette across the blade of a bread knife. The fact that the brand has, since 2018, brought most of its production back to Switzerland fits well with this sense of rootedness.

Exactly the kind of brand we’d love to come across on O!deal one day.
