Qwetch's insulated infuser mug: six hours of warmth, no separate filter needed
Qwetch introduces a mug with a built-in filter, made from recycled stainless steel, designed to turn an ordinary cup into an insulated infuser at the office or at home.

What it is
A mug with a handle, a filter that slots inside, and a matte colour reminiscent of dark chocolate: this is the Matt Chocolate insulated infuser mug from Qwetch. The idea comes down to one simple picture — the office desk or living room where you brew an infusion without bringing out the teapot. You pour in hot water, add loose leaves or a tea bag to the built-in filter, close the lid, and the mug becomes its own infuser.
The model comes in a 470 ml capacity, available in a standard version and in a version that can be personalised by engraving, a speciality of the brand. The matte Chocolate colourway rounds out a range of handled mugs designed for everyday use, whether at home, at the office, or on short trips.
This mug is aimed at anyone who regularly drinks loose-leaf tea or herbal infusions and is after a single object that can replace both the cup and the small tea filter that always gets left behind.
Why it exists
Making a herbal tea or loose-leaf tea normally requires two items: a cup and a separate filter, or a teapot that feels excessive for a single cup. Qwetch addresses this small inconvenience with a mug that builds the filter straight in. According to the brand, the infusion is ready instantly, with no extra equipment required.
The other issue at hand is heat loss. An insulated mug aims to keep a drink at a pleasant temperature for longer, whether that’s tea still hot an hour after pouring, or a cold drink that doesn’t warm up too quickly in summer. The slide-lock lid, meanwhile, addresses a different concern — spills during transport or while moving around the room, guarding against the liquid tipping out at the slightest turn of the wrist.
What matters
The 470 ml capacity puts this mug in a generous format, closer to a large mug than a small cup. In practice, that means fewer refills over a morning at work, but also a slightly bulkier object to carry or fit into a bag.
The mug’s material, a 304 (18/8) stainless steel made from 90% recycled content, works on two fronts: the durability of the container and the origin of the metal used. This same steel forms the inside of the lid, while the outer structure is made of PP5 with a silicone seal. This combination partly explains why the item isn’t rated for dishwasher or microwave use: care is by hand only.
Insulating performance is the product’s central selling point: six hours to keep a drink hot, twelve hours to keep one cold. This gap between hot and cold retention is common for this type of container, as cold generally holds longer than heat. In practical terms, this means tea poured in the morning will stay warm for a good part of the morning, while a cold drink will comfortably last a full day at the office.
Watertightness deserves a mention: this mug is not watertight, as the slide-lock lid has no sealing gasket. That doesn’t stop it from limiting everyday splashes, according to the brand, but it does rule out carrying it lying flat in a bag without precautions.
The mug’s weight, 0.36 kg, remains light for a steel container of this capacity. Combined with a height of 14.3 cm and a diameter of 8.4 cm, the object feels close to an ordinary mug in the hand, despite its insulating function and built-in filter.
Day to day
Use follows a simple logic: open the lid, place tea leaves or herbal blend in the filter, which measures 6.9 cm in height and 7.2 cm in diameter, pour in hot water, then close with the slide-lock lid. The filter stays in place for the duration of the infusion, before being removed once the desired strength is reached.
The slide-lock lid opens and closes with a single motion, with no unscrewing required, making it easy to operate one-handed while working or moving around the house. However, this mechanism is not watertight: it’s therefore best kept upright, set on a desk or table, rather than in a moving bag.
As for care, the recycled stainless steel and the composite lid are not suited to the dishwasher or the microwave. Cleaning is done by hand, as with many insulated containers whose walls and closing mechanism are sensitive to heat or harsh cleaning products.

What the brand says
Qwetch states that the mug turns into an infuser instantly thanks to its built-in filter, requiring no separate accessory to brew tea or herbal infusions.
Why it caught our eye
We like the idea of a mug that quietly does away with the fuss of a separate tea filter. We also noticed the attention paid to the 90% recycled steel, a detail that says something about care for the material rather than design alone. The understated Matt Chocolate colourway makes you want to see it in action on a real desk.
Exactly the kind of brand we’d love to come across on O!deal one day.
